A book that perfectly captures a moment in time. The artwork is striking and nostalgic, as other reviewers have said, you could frame any page. A beautiful translation of boredom, family dynamics, and the under whelming promise of a British caravan holiday.

another reviewer on here said: it doesn't tell a story, it captures an experience
to that I'd add: there IS a story. a mundane, near-universal story. AND it captures the experience of that as well.
it was as if Alice Munro could create a graphic novel. the details are quiet and important and contain a multitude of meaning. a teen boy testing his independence. a mother trying to recreate a beloved memory. technology at times overlaying, and at other times interfering with, tangible life.

a very detailed book indeed in terms of its illustrations - was really analyzing on the characters' actions & it was something new, focusing more on the visuals rather than reading the words.
might not be for everyone but quite enjoyed myself on this one!
