2.5 stars. I did enjoy the first section a lot. I liked the second section. I hated the third. I struggled to like Julia after the first half of the book. There were moments where she was pretty awesome in the second section, but... She definitely had a mean streak in her. Very self-absorbed. She just...bothered me.

Thanks to Harlequin Teen and Net Galley for the book in exchange for a honest review.

I've thought long and hard about how to express my thoughts on this book and I'm still coming up blank. I had high expectations, from reading the blurb for it. It let me down. I was expecting one thing and I got something different. I thought Julia was abrasive and sometimes downright rude. Dave was meek and backwards at times. I know that I sound like all I'm doing is bashing it but I just can't find anything that I loved about the book. They tried to be so far away from cliche that they ended up being more than weird.

If you read it let me know what your thoughts are. I'm interested how others will receive this book.

I talked too soon. When Dave got with Julia, I couldn't buy into it. He had more chemistry with Gretchen as did Julia and Brett. And guess what, totally went in that direction. Knew her mother was going to turn out shit.
What was it missing- Resolution with thier families and just not enough of them. And I felt that some things were glossed over or not detailed enough. But is a very enjoyable, sweet story.

This was a fun little read about teenage love and embracing all of the clichés that come with it! The main characters were a little annoying at times, but overall the story was cute and made me very reminiscent of high school which is always fun!

It was a nice quick read, however it didn't really feel like anything special and personally the ending left a lot to be desired.

I will admit that I mostly read this type of book as a teen and I will also admit, that it was a very fun read. If you are looking for a quick beach read, or just like romance, this book is for you. I loved the characters and found myself laughing out loud to their witty banter. Everyone should have a friend like Dave and Julia. The best part about the book is the fact that the ending is not what you expect. This book is due out tomorrow, so get your e-readers ready.

never always sometimes is a book about julia and dave, best friends in highschool. they decide to make a list of highschool stereotypes and never engage in those on the list. dave is secretly in love with julia, so he's pretty happy when she says they should break every rule on the list for fun. of course, one of the rules is to never date your best friend.
the writing style was my biggest issue. it was so bland and boring, it only made this whole book more forgettable to me. it was forgettable to begin with, since there was nothing about the plot that i found fun. dave and julia were irritating from the start, since they felt so much better than everyone else because they vowed never to dye their hair an unnatural color because that's 'cliche' or 'stereotypical', and therefore not good enough for them. the romance was pretty nonsensical because the love triangle situation was extremely unexpected and unnatural. the ending was disappointing but it honestly didn't impact me all too much because i was so bored by the rest of the book already. at least it was a quick read.
