The secrets I locked down in the cellar of my gut have crawled away to expose their horrors into the light.

The book does a fantastic job of describing the horrifying nature of intrusive thoughts, and how sometimes, when they're left unsupervised within a mind that was not made to harbor them nor deal with them correctly, it can lead to a very disturbing and grotesque reality. The way many thoughts and feelings are described are in such a way that I felt so genuinely understood; the way it touches on such a shunned upon mindset and experience of the disturbing and extreme was comforting, in a gross fucked up kind of way.

However, the book itself is not at all what I wanted from it. I started it with hopes and dreams of reading something so utterly disgusting and revolting, based simply on the experience of others in the reveiws, and yet I came out of it... unsatisfied. If you get grossed out easily, or at the very least easier than I do, and want a quick read of something unsettling, then I'm sure this book is perfect for you. But for someone who maybe fails to get that feeling of disgust from any form of  fictional media that you may get in a real-life situation, this book may have very little effect on you like it has with me.

Over all, I believe it's a very good read and was most definitely worth the time and money I spent on it.

it was a kinda fun read ngl, but it was really short. sometimes it felt like things were missing and the pacing would feel a bit rushed, but it is less than 100 pages and that can all be boiled down to the unreliable narrator but even that feels like a cop out. there is a lot of /I'm just gonna tell you what happened/. honestly, it felt like if you took the sentences and made it bullet points it would read in the exact same way as the book did. that is to say, it feels like plot points were listed and the important bits are randomly added on to make the story make sense while not having any real footing. it felt like it needed to be expanded upon greatly, which makes sense since it is less than 100 pages

A really effective, depraved horror. Poetically written - but I didn’t find the main character’s obsession with vultures that believable, as we’re thrust into extreme thoughts from the start. Would’ve been more believable if the descent into obsession was slower, so it felt less like a gross-out horror that just intended to shock.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book from start to finish. Some parts made me very uncomfortable and others had be completely encapsulated. I just couldn't put the book down! Expect lots of gross scenes and very dark undertones as you dwelve into the mind of a woman obsessed with vultures.
