This is just one of these books... as a kid or teen you might read it just to satiate some quest for wisdom hidden by the "Christian upbringing", but then you find out it's so much like Greek myths. This approach is gnostic warmongering. As an adult you realize, much like Arjuna did by the beginning of the book, that war is futile. And here you have a god trying to convince him, and succeeding, that war is not much of a big thing because apparently we'll all reincarnate successively until we learn this indifferent, "ascetic" approach to life. The funniest part of this is that as Chesterton said in the Everlasting, the Church wouldn't have as much backlash if it were some exotic religion, yet in new age circles a denial of the body like here would get praise.
Now, as a narrative it was a well constructed myth but sure the message is the kind to raise alarms as it totally supports castes, and calls their abolition a catastrophe as you could expect of a traditional hindu text.

I have a better understanding of Hinduism now, but this was very repetitive and not that interesting to read. And really not very relevant to non-Hindus.

The work should be done in a yogic mind without worrying about the outcome.
Krishna knows all and present in all.
Brahman is the spirit of universe. Atman is the spirit of human. OM is a sacred word.
It talks about good and evil. The argues about light, fire and darkness.

Good book for reminding yourself of how to live. It's interesting to see the parallels between Christianity and Buddhism.
