Aviv discusses mental illness and its differing trajectories considering the impacts of timing of diagnosis, privilege, cultural heritage, poverty, race and societal expectations. Hit a little close to home for the time being, but a highly important and challenging read.

For some reason I was expecting this book to be more science-y but it is very focused on a few individuals' stories and how society responded to them. It was interesting to hear their perspectives but the writing didn't make me feel very connected to them. I found them interesting in a detached sense without feeling much empathy for them and their struggles. That might have something to do with audio as a format, tbh.
