What if Foghorn Leghorn and Droopy Dog had to save the world from a Dark Lord? And it was awesome? That’s this book in a nutshell, and I loved it. Highly recommended.

A very interesting take on good vs evil narrative. Sets up for the sequels well, but it does more explaining what is coming than actually dealing with what comes. I enjoyed it, but was a little confused by some of the characters and their representations in the book.

A good novel, thoughtful, thrilling and well-written. The gender politics leave plenty to be desired (the novel is more or less *about* how the maintenance of a patriarchal social order is necessary to hold back the evil at the gate) and that’s worth considering critically, and yet I found the book truthful enough to comment on and critique (if not fundamentally question) those patriarchal assumptions.
