Meh

It was ok. Not great. I don't know if I will continue with the series, I think I might move along.

I think the ending ruined the series for me. I’m so sad.
I normally don’t like child best friends to lovers, but Evie and Owen are my exception. It’s not fair that wheeler made me ship them soo hard, to just snatch them away from me in a few lines. My developed preference aside, it felt strange and very sudden.

The development of severen was also a little bit strange. He had a lot of flaws from the beginning, he could have slowly but surely fallen into madness. Instead we spend much time establishing that he is an acceptable ruler, just to condemn him evil in a matter of three pages.
The book is well written, I read it in a day.

A decent fantasy. It lacked emotional depth for me. I liked the characters, I just didn’t love them. Felt a lot like Game of Thrones, but confusing and not quite as good. Good enough to finish the trilogy though.

It was not the ending I wanted but I am glad that the series continues. I love how it follows the same people throughout the years. Highly recommend this series. I believe there are 5-6 other books plus prequels.

The drama! The trauma! How have I never heard of this series before?!
