Disturbing and unnecessary. I thought it would be a cute cozy story about a woman and her cat, nope. The cat is romantically in love with and obsessed with the woman?!  I would say it really feels like a man writing a woman, but the woman wasn't even really a character in the story. She barely had a personality and all Makoto Shinkai created for her life was hollow preoccupations with traditional female roles in society filtered through the male gaze. It really feels like her character is reduced to an object. The art oversexualizes the woman in basically every frame. It was also disturbing that the main character cat often "gets affectionate" with what is implied to be an underage cat, whatever that means. Why??? It was so creepy. This book made me think less of makoto shinkai and I'm super disappointed about the hollow, sexist portrayal of women in the book.

I didn't realize that the short stories was a completely different book but still  this was cute. I think this was my first manga.
