I was born and raised in Buffalo, NY. However, local history was never really anything taught in school. This book gave a look to local history that is not focused on - the darker side of things.

There were stories of mistreatment of Native Americans and battles between the Indiginous and Military in the area. Stories of just how heavily active the Mafia was (and maybe still is) in the area. There was also a look at the mistreatment of the mentally ill at the historic Buffalo Psychiatric Center.

In the realm of honest review, there were bits that were rather dry reading and I felt like it needed to have a epilogue or some other wrapping up ending.

But all in all, a quick read on an aspect of local history I never really knew about.
