Knox & Harper (Part Two): These Two Just Keep Getting Better! 5 Stars

This is a first where Books One and Two were both 5 stars. (At least where I'm concerned!)

Book Two, Blaze featuring our main characters from book one did not disappoint. Harper is getting used to the sudden power shift as she has now become Co-Prime along with her archdemon mate, Knox. We get to see them grow more in love and a mysterious entity try to separate them, as the four Horseman make an appearance. The identities of each horseman are unknown, but it has been noted whom the first one was. As Knox and Harper commit to each other on a deeper level, the forces that be are determined to keep them apart due to a weird prophecy.

I simply LOVE these two and the characters surrounding them. I am totally in love with Tanner and hope that somewhere along the lines, we get to see him, and Devon (the hellcat) get together. I know they would be amazing! I also want to see the other girls meet their matches. I love Khloe and hope that she finds her mate as well.

On to book three! I can't get enough of these two! This series is amazing and just enough heat between them not to be nauseating! I can't wait to get deeper into the series!

Happy reading!

Another hit

Another page turner. The suspense was intense and everyone was a suspect. Knox and Harper was a power couple wasn't afraid to show affection and love for one another. What I loved most about this book is the honest communications between Harper and Knox. They held no secrets and was upfront with each other. Waiting for book 3.

It took me just.... forever to finish this book. Such a cumbersome weight was put on my shoulders to carry. Ok, I may exaggerate but I had hopes for the second book in the series. I wanted to read all of them, I was that excited by the premise but I can no more.

What is wrong with those two? Knox and Harper are acting so childish, with no regard towards their actions, but not in a chaotic manner that will be expected from demons, no, they are, as characters faulty build.

Maybe is me , you know, and not you...

Worldbuilding:
We jump straight back into the story only a little time after the events from book 1. I didn't reread the last chapter of that book, so it took me a while to get back into it. Harper is the co-Prime of a large lair; women can't believe Knox is taken, and then we have a demon going rogue and spreading a very interesting prophecy. I mean... bring it on! :D

Character development:
This is an instalment where you see both Harper and Knox having difficulties relying on each other instead of only themselves. Their past did a number on them, which can really be felt.
Both grow a lot throughout this book, and I can't wait to see where they end up!
All characters are well fleshed out, with a mind and agenda of their own (no ladies, Knox is truly taken, get your greedy paws off him!).

Pacing and flow:
Smooth sailing from start to finish, with many things going on, but enough downtime to catch your breath (and think about getting a tattoo, lol).

The book:
The book was well written with no (noticeable) errors. It has a lot of sex described (if that is important to you). I would give it a steam level of 4

Loving this series! Knox and Harper are a great couple. I love all the friends at the tattoo shop.....so many LOL moments over their crazy antics. I really like the sentinels too. I would love to see them all get a book!

This was a continuation of Harper and Knox's story. I really enjoyed the first installment, and this one only improved. Whereas with the first one, I liked it more from an enjoyment factor than a belief that the story was especially good, this book had both working in its favor.

This book wasn't as rushed in exposition, since the first book already did the major chunk of the world building. Though, to be honest, I still want to know more details about the demons and their world (like, how do children learn their abilities? or if these people/demons can live for centuries, why aren't any great-grandparents ever mentioned as being alive?). This novel also did a much better job at smoothly flowing between Harper and Knox's perspectives. There wasn't any of the choppiness that I felt in the first book.

The plot of this story picks up a few months after the first one ended. Knox and Harper have gotten to know each other more, and they still have the same, strong intensity and chemistry that drives their relationship. Now that Harper is co-Prime of their lair, it seems as though her adjustment to power and leadership will drive the story. That, and the appearance of many judging women (both exes and random snots) trying to drive a wedge between the hero and heroine. However, bigger conflicts emerge as a delusional, near rogue, demon kidnaps, Carla (Harper's AWOL mom), because of her connection to Harper. This demon's mission is deadlocked on destroying Knox, by any means necessary. There's a bit of push and pull between Harper and Knox as they attempt to find the right balance of overprotectiveness and space.

I really enjoyed seeing Harper grow into her new role, really her new life. Everything has changed in a very short time, but she's still portrayed realistically. The supporting cast that surrounds her and Knox help generate some comic relief when needed, but also provide a good sounding board for the characters, so things seem more organic and less like our main characters are magically perfect at finding all the right solutions.

I look forward to seeing what will come next in this series. I hope I don't have to wait for too long.
