Emily St.John Mandel writes beautifully; if she simply wrote only passages while people-watching in a park, I would read it. I tremendously liked "Station Eleven" but her latest novel doesn't live up to it, unfortunately. I have read a few other reviews and am in agreement that the different characters and elements of the "The Glass Hotel" don't cohere. Since St.John Mandel writes so exquisitely it's not as noticeable, or maybe i mean bothersome, as it may be in another novel.

3.5 stars. I didn’t enjoy this one as much as Station Eleven. Good writing, just didn’t care as much about the story, and didn’t feel like it wove together as interesting a story. Wasn’t really an obvious plot, just lots of stories that were kind of related

A minimalist plot, but propped up by an intelligent and drifting writing style.
