I'm so disappointed in this book, I loved the first one, during the first read, and I still liked it during the second reread but this one made no sense. It got interested in the last 60 pages but even then, the last few chapters were meh. I don't like the arc of severin, it barely made any logical sense, and I just really didn't see the world unfolding like it did. It was also quite confusing at times, the sentences/action sequences didn't always follow each other. Only person I truly love is zofia

Mystery! Suspense! Watching one of my favorite characters spiral into obsession and alienate everyone around him for the greater good! This definitely had a more serious tone, the stakes are higher and cracks are widening between everyone. There were still lots of fun puzzles, history moments, and brilliant imagery. My worry that the group survives till the end increased with every page. I can't wait to read the next book, the ending had like: WHYYYYYYY!!!!!!!

I read the Gilded Wolves in 2019 and I deserve, quite frankly, to step on lego for not having read the sequel until THREE years later. Three years? For shame. 

Anyway, I finally listened to it on audio and, although it was missing some of the panache and energy of the first book, I did enjoy it. I really liked the found family vibes of book one, so I was happy to the group back together for another quest, but it was sad to see Séverin so emotionally removed from everyone else. 

Roshani Chokshi really said, I see you were invested in the romances from book one, well here's nothing but pain in book two. Laila and Enrique, my queen and my soft cinnamon roll, I'm so sorry you both deserved better. I also felt like the plot wasn't always clearly narrated, but this might just be because I was listening to the audiobook. Curious to see how book three ends the trilogy!

I liked this one so much more than the first!  I'm going to have to buy the third, it'll annoy me a lot not finishing it.

This book made my heart hurt. The ending is utterly gut wrenching. The writing in this book is incredible and the characters are extraordinary. Please read this book ❤️
