I hate to say it, I really do, but this book disappointed me. And it’s not because of second book syndrome…ok maybe it is because of second book syndrome. But not entirely! I just didn’t know where we were going with the plot, which made it super confusing, which then made it boring. If I thought the first book was confusing…woooo boy this book was incomprehensible. I did finish the last 100 pages in a  sprint, because the action was picking up. Some of the character character motivations and choices

like Severin being a complete monster with no soul or redeeming qualities, and Enrique staying with Hypnos for so long

really took away from what I most liked about the first book: the characters. Zofia is still my number one, she can do no wrong. Everyone else…let’s just hope that they redeem themselves in the last book. Because I’m still going to read it even after

the chaotic and messy ending that I hated and all of the hateful things that Severin does

The above quote perfectly encapsulates what this series is. This book, it tore my heart to pieces!! I love the world, I love the characters, and I'm so happy I re-read  it so I can finally finish the trilogy!!! Bonus that I don't have to wait months for the book to come out, I can just grab it from my bookshelf this time
