This book was a literary marvel, with an absolutely compelling focus on the memoir’s main character, Oksana. In her explorations of her own queerness, her relationship with her mother, her emotional ability, her art; we face the penultimate force of grief and its impact on her world. A feminist work, a lesbian work, a poet’s work, a human’s story. It resonated in my heart with a resounding cry for days after.
