This is short novella that will catch you at the first word and won't let go of your imagination until the last word. Set in the Regency world of the Half Moon House, Ma. Marlowe less us on a funny and emotional journey for this short read that you don't want to end.

The Duke of Rathmore didn't think he'd be Duke, Miss Laura Stokes was never supposed to be Mr.Lawrence McConnell, or maybe she was, they had told her often enough she should have been a boy. Laura had one plan, get to tge Marquess of Marstokes, and kill him for what he'd done to her sister. Like a brother would do, had she been one. The Duke of Rathmore stood in her eay, the gatekeeper on her road to getting to Marstokes. She never thought of how handsome he wss, until the night he was supposed to pick her.

Many had said that the present Duke had killed his brother to get the title, he'd just been a second son. He moved among the leftover sons of Society easily because of it. Until the young Mr. Lawrence McConnell entered so closely into his orbit. Then he was everywhere, and there was something about him.

Give glittering stars for this novella, loved every word. Wonderfully written, and obviously a project Ms. Marlowe had a lot of fun with. A mist buy if you like her Half Moon series. A book that easily stands alone, but sits well in the story line that has been previously laId out.

What a delightful story. More madcap spy novel than historical romance. Laura Stokes shows up at Half Moon Street dressed in men's clothing and with a twisted ankle. Upon entering the house she promptly faints. What can be going on? The story then proceeds to go back a few weeks to let us know how Laura got here. She's created an elaborate disguise and Mr Lawrence McConnell in an effort to take revenge on the Marquess of Marstoke who has ruined her sister.
As part of her dealings as a man she meets the Duke of Rothmore. He seems to be working with Marstoke in a treasonous plot (but is he really?) Laura/Lawrence has the Duke fooled but not enough to get him to get her access to Marstoke who she is trying to kill. When the Duke discovers that Lawrence is actually a woman - he is intrigued and even more set on trying to protect her.
I won't give away the end but suffice it to say that Marstoke gets what what he deserves and the Duke gets a new duchess.
This is a fast enjoyable read that has enough surprises along the way to make it fun to discover what happens in the end. I would have liked to see how the story continued
