every character in this book was DUMB. like actually lacking any critical thinking skills.
this girls husband disappears, he doesn’t answer anyone’s calls, hasn’t been showing up to work AND he doesn’t come home for a week and she spends the entire book being like “aw :( he left me :(“ GIRL THAT MAN IS DEAD!!
and christian WATCHED his wife lie to the police and nina but still blindly believed everything she said. like COME ONNNN.
i called the first twist on page 4 but the second twist was a little bit more shocking, so i’ll give it 2.5 stars instead of 2.
a lot of plot lines were never answered tho and that’s bothersome. like why did the mom say she saw jake? and who sent nina flowers?
i only read this one bc i LOVED local woman missing but idk this book was a tough one to get through, very easy and quick read tho!!

I just can’t stop thinking that this is a dark comedy. It’s intentionally cheesy?

This one was such a dud. The writing was bad, and the story was even worse. I guessed part of the ending from the very beginning. The story was extremely boring, and very slowly paced. Definitely wouldn’t recommend this one.

mary kubica is my new lisa jewell and lucy foley while i wait for their next releases. honestly idk why i like this? i saw a lot of it coming from early on but still enjoyed the ride. i don’t love how weak seeming all the women are but the plot was enough to keep it going even though they just went from work to home to the woods to the police station daily. audiobook was well narrated — i recognized the voice but can’t be bothered to look up from where. this sounds so mean but this is the perfect book to clean the house, go for a walk, or read before bed. will i remember the title? the characters? the plot? no. but did i read it in 12 hours? yes
