I wish I had known this was romance going into it. It's so messy and so romance heavy. And all the dark secrets are related to relationships, jealousy and love too. Oh and our main romance guy who starts off really neat and nice? Yeah he ends up technically drug raping someone.

I personally do not like romance -- I like it bare minimum so I didn't have fun with this.
And the twists and turns in the book were very left field and out of nowhere, for example:

About Two chapters in
I didn't like how Peter was introduced. Like suddenly she wants to love this guy and suddenly we find out they're dating. It could've taken a sentence to explain they were childhood friends AND dating.

How Horn writes the romance is WEIRD. Maisie opens up to Mercy that she knowns she likes Jackson and is like: ALL SPOILERS UNTIL ***

"But I can tell you that Jackson loves me. He does"
"I know he does," I assured her, but she ignored me.
"I sense, though, that it's in your power to confuse him about that. He's as drawn to you as you are to him."

WHAT??? You said he loves you, then you said he's attracted to Mercy?? So he loves Mercy but you forced him slash you were the twin left over so he went with you? What is going on.

Another moment:
'the way Peter sees you, the way Jackson see you,'
So you just confirmed Jackson likes Mercy NOT you. The fuck?

'I am begging you to leave Jackson to me.'
I am so mad. Cos basically Jackson actually liked Mercy but chose Maisie cos she was left over but kissed Mercy the night before but proposed to Maisie but he is attracted to Mercy, but WHAT?! You just confidently said he loves you and then said you(re begging Mercy to leave him alone? The fuck?

And right at the end Mercy has the audacity to say "are you happy for me?" is she FUCK. You just told her you know about her feelings for Jackson and then shoved your marriage in her face? The fuck.

Nope, nope nope nope. Don't like it. Why they acting 14 instead of 20?

But the positives is that it's fast paced, there's a lot of secrets and mystery, and not all of them are predictable and some are surprising! Although I did predict the main twist 18% in...
