Gripping, adventurous, and the fae here are unlike anything I've ever seen. Blows anything stereotypically YA fae-fantasy adjacent out of the water.

I've fallen in love... If you've read Cassandra Clare and adored the Seelie & Unseelie court like me, enjoyed the feeling of that place... You have to read The folk of air series! The plot is political but not too blindly (I don't like politics in real life, this equals the levels of Throne of glass but the focus is slightly stronger on the scheming). If you love Aelin, you must like Jude too - she's a total beast and I adore her. The enemies to lovers subplot is wickedly sold on me. This book is YA, the darkness and plot are sooo catchy - highly recommend diving into this world
Spoilerwhen she put the dagger to his throat and kissed him I nearly screamed + the poisoning herself, getting rid of Valerian? Madness but also badassery at its finest. I love how she's quick to treason for those she loves and protects!/

Spoiler there’s a huge plot twist at the end that I was most definitely not expecting. And the back says that readers will be positively entranced but she just killed a guy, three actually so I’m not so sure.

I'm having a hard time rating this one. While I did enjoy it, it was just solidly good. I've read better books that I gave the same rating to, but I don't fully feel like this goes below 3 stars because that is normally when I DNF a book.

If you just want a solid, good, YA book with fae then this is perfect. It isn't outstanding, but it was still an enjoyable read. I understand why some people love it but I also understand why some people don't. I enjoyed the story, the plot moved decently fast, and it was entertaining to read. It definitely feels like watching a trashy TV show where you just want to watch terrible people do terrible things.

I felt like the little kid in A Princess Bride in some parts ('is this a kissing book?') but the political intrigue...the angst...it's so good!!
