⚔️ The vibes:
- Pirates
- sea monster & sirens
- Multi pov
- Betrayals
- Morally gray characters
- Fade to black
⚔️ My thoughts
The side characters took more of a lead on this one, and I loved to see it. This one was definitely more gory than the first. It had a darker tone than the first and this tone continues darker as the series continues.
⚔️ You know how every fantasy series has a book where everything in the world that can go wrong, goes WRONG? That is this book.
⚔️ The first chapter was INCREDIBLE. and I felt so many feelings. 😭😭😭😭😭. And the rest of the book was a good time too! I felt like it was slow paced- similar to the first book- but I really enjoyed the vibes of this one. The sea, the monsters, the fae, and of course the PIRATES.
⚔️There are several romance plot lines and I wanted a bit more out of one of the couples. I struggle with soul mates and instalove and this book did have that for sure.
Overall, I still enjoyed this one for all the vibes.
Note- fade to black / vague details ; some language
Moderate: Torture, Violence, and Murder

I was waiting with bated breath at each chapter of this book. I cannot express the stress that this story induced 😂 In all seriousness, I loved it. I wasn’t a huge fan of the five person POV, but it wasn’t hard to follow along, more like I’d rather just have read Declan and Aeoife’s POV. With that said, the multiple POV opens it up to future stories (not sure if the author has this in mind or not).
It was heartbreaking that practically the entire book our favorite characters were separated but that added to the desperation they were feeling and really pulled at my heartstrings. It also enabled Aeoife to work through her feelings on her own without Declan being there, ensuring that what she felt was true. And that scene with Killian just about took me out, that was ROUGH.
All in all, great book and I’m immediately diving into the third upon finishing this. This series has me in a chokehold.
