I thought this would be a little bit more historical than memoir. The pieces were interesting, but something about the style made it dense.
It was interesting to see how the experience shifted as Lin both aged and moved. Time changes a lot, even in gay bars.

I got kind of bored at the recounting of various nights out and found it fairly mundane as a gay man who also frequents similar bars.

Was listening on Audio and think it would work better on the page.

Part memoir, part ethnography, Lin deftly weaves story and research to examine the culture of queer nightlife. With Lin as our guide we explore different notable queer cities and uncover pieces of our past that have been forgotten, or intentionally hidden. Absolutely vital.
