This book was so good!!! I love the way the author wrote Elizabeth and how strong she was. I also love the communication between her, Mad and Six-thirty, they are a great family who look out for each other and just get each other. Six-thirty is one of the best characters I think I have ever read, I’m obsessed with him and his fears that he overcomes to protect his family.

Definitely thought this book would be a bit more like a romcom. The content warnings showed me this would not be the case so glad I looked at them.
I liked Elizabeth Zott as a character and I liked the questions she posed about marriage and religion. She seemed like she could also be on the spectrum which is nice representation to see in a book.
The story was a little slow. It kept my interest but it did take me a minute to finish the book. I really liked the authors writing style with the little vignette type stories.
I do think this will be a bit more enjoyable as a show so I’m glad I read it before the show releases.

I am a woman in chemistry, so I assume that’s why this book was recommended to me. Although I finished the book, I found it deeply unsatisfying - it not enjoyable and I don’t think it was well written. I read parts and listened to parts. It didn’t help. Whoever the author consulted with is not a chemist working in the life sciences - guess what, there are many subdisciplines within the field of chemistry! The audiobook narrator should have worked with a scientist to learn how to properly pronounce scientific terminology.

The idea of the plot is fine, but the novel would benefit from additional polishing. I also want to add that simply throwing in a mention of Rosa Parks and the Civil Rights movement felt like a cheap ploy to pretend to introduce the issue of race.

I couldn't get beyond the visceral fatphobia in the first couple chapters. I still can't stop thinking about the hatred this author must have for fat people. Weak trope, do better.
