The book was a lot more charming and sweet than I expected. I loved seeing Hilnama’s little asides and thoughts. As a Touken Ranbu fan I loved the references to it too.
She is very vulnerable but still really shows her love for the people that matter to her. It’s nice to see how much empathy she has for people around her even while she’s going through something difficult herself.
There is a good mix of info about cancer diagnosis and treatment as well as just her daily life and relationships. I never felt that it was trying to make me feel sad or inspired or any crap like that.
I knew I’d give it 5 stars even before I went and found out Hilnama ended up passing away, so rest assured this is not some pity rating.
