Annabelle finds a box filled with yarn, and proceeds to make beautifully knit sweaters for herself, her dog, her friends, and even inanimate objects. What once was a town that was bleak and dreary quickly turns into a town of color and love.

A great choice for storytimes or reading aloud to classrooms. Absolutely beautiful illustrations (with some classic Klassen characters); and the message is delightful and sweet.

A hilarious children’s book with a great repetitive and cyclical plot

I loved this book - I loved the story and the sentiment and the warmth and that the Archduke is foiled and most of all I loved the illustrations, and the way they were made from negative spaces and explored the texture of adding pigment to paper. Excellent book for people who knit, for people who have children (of just about any story-telling age), for people who appreciate good art. a cosy way to start the new year.

It was surprising to see a Caldecott Honor book include a potentially problematic depiction of a little person. And it just breezes past it. Maybe I need to learn more about how the Caldecott committee makes its choices.

A modern story that has a bit of old-time fairy tale feeling to it. The ending fell a little flat for me but it didn't ruin anything. I loved the illustrations!
