3.5 stars rounded up to 4. the first avery keene (when justice sleeps) was definitely better, and i struggled a bit to remember what happened in the first one lol, but this was still a fun fast-paced thriller! A few lulls that put me in a slump but it picked up in the end and I will definitely read the next one when its out.

Rating: 3.5 stars
Format: Audiobook

Avery Keene is a remarkably frustrating woman. Luckily she cooperated more this go around which eased some of my annoyance.

This sequel held so much political jargon that I felt like I needed my own dossier to keep up. I’ve never complained about a book being too detailed until now. At times I couldn’t stay focused because the content was so heavy and so many characters and entities were introduced. At one point I couldn’t remember if some of the individuals that were eliminated had even been mentioned prior in the story.

The story did get back on track around the 70/75% mark and hone in on the issues at hand. I did appreciate that the two scandals eventually intertwined. However, the ending did leave a little to be desired. Casey’s demise was absolutely AMAZING though and yet, what will be Vance’s fate?

Not sure if audio was the correct format to receive this much detail. However, I wouldn’t have been able to finish had I physically read it.
