If you remember in book 1, Willow had decided that she didn’t want Max as her maistre anymore. In order to get her freedom, she had to get her heart back from him. So in this sequel, Willow and her friends plotted on how help Willow recover her heart, where Max had decided he would do whatever it took, to keep Willow with him.

Willow was wiser, stronger and more discerning in this book. I definitely like how she is evolving. She was planning instead of winging it, she was utilizing her resources (her friends) instead of being a one-woman show, and she learned to play a little dirty. Well good for her.

I know I may be in the minority, but I liked Max in this book, whereas I didn’t like him in book 1. Book 1 Max was just an overbearing, tyrant a-hole. Book 2 Max seemed to have genuine feelings for Willow. He was still an overbearing jerk, but I saw a slight glimpse of affection for her. Besides, I agree with him, she knew what she was signing up for when she came to Max. If he let her go, everyone else will try to get sassy with him. Plus, she plans to be her own mistress. She doesn’t want to be Max’s beckon-call-girl, but she wants her own harem of beckon-call-guys?

Either way, I liked the old gang, her boss and co-workers. Agent Monroe was definitely got what was coming to him. Punch and Conda were interesting additions to the story. The author definitely did a good job of keeping the story tight and the plot was still enjoyable.

My only qualm is that the sexual escapades in this book were getting close to my comfort zone, as it was much kinkier than book 1. Not just kinkier, but much more sex in general. I am a little squeamish on some of the sex, but thankful it didn’t over power the book.

I look forward to the final installment and I look forward to a “stable” union with Willow and Aaron&’Em.
