it was a little too close to home and heavy for me personally as reading is my escape and i wasn’t really expecting it BUT it was amazing otherwise i felt like gus and january were with me while i was reading it and their fears were relatable and made me feel a little less alone

I really enjoyed this book. The first book I read by Emily Henry was not as good as this one and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved it. I could completely relate to the main character because she is also an author struggling with writers block. I liked the fact that she was dealing with some tough situations and how she could grow through it, while also going outside of her comfort zone with Gus. I thought this was a great and well rounded story, but I did think that the main characters could have avoided fights if it weren’t for miscommunication. I also didn’t like that she was a stereotypical woman in a romance book (e.g. over dramatic and cried all the time).

really good book, but if you expect a lighthearted and funny story as the title suggests, that's not it haha

AHHHHH one of the greatest love confessions from a man i have EVER seen! un smut scenes, par brīnumu, bija labi.
i will ALWAYS eat the grumpy vs sunshine trope up!

It's a good book. It is a cute story. The main character, January, she's a bit dramatic and self-centered. She's an only-child, so I guess she is a really well-written only-child. I just didn't really like her all that much.
I enjoyed the book overall. I think it does read like a "first book." I read Book Lovers and it's got a similar feel to it, but it reads better IMO.
I was invested in the story, I wanted to know what happened to January and Gus. I enjoyed the tid-bits about the books they were writing as well.
Okay ending- or maybe I just don't like happy endings... *winky face*

I DNF this book a while ago and then found it agains to complete in full. Honestly not my favorite. I’m unsure what about Gus we are supposed to find attractive but his crooked smile, constant jaw twitching, eye movements and wrinkled shirts don’t appeal to me. Also, why are the marketing people applying tropes that don’t exist to this book? They aren’t enemies nor rivals in the slightest. It’s all one sided. Plus the constant
flashback to one random college night of dancing infuriated me. We get it - y’all danced. That’s not profound. Also- how are fictional men not doing foreplay & just magically being able to have pleasing sec? Why did January not insist on this?
The banter at times was funny but January also had a lot going on & I was concerned with the amount of times she kept wincing at her bank account but still had money ? Idk my feelings are all over the place but this isn’t a rom com. Literary fiction but there’s better.
