Might change it tomorrow when I’m less pissed off but no chance its getting more than a 2. Trash. Trash characters, trash plot, trash writing, some occasional sparkles of decent or even pretty good. Just cos you cover a mud puddle in glitter doesn’t make it good.

This Review Contains Spoilers and Triggers. Please be warned.
This book is about twin sisters Zara and Miranda and a guy who destroys both of their worlds in a blink of an eye! The book starts off with one of the twin sisters going to jail for the murder of her sister. However, until the story unfolds you will not know who is in jail and who is dead! (Suspense) Miranda is a math genius who loves working with numbers and Zara is an artist with a passion for photography. All through high school and into adulthood Zara struggles with demons which caused her to attempt suicide multiple times. Even though their mom is in their lives, Miranda has stepped up to help look after her twin sister. The twins decide to live together. One night while going to pick up some dinner for her and Miranda, Zara meets a man named Sebastian. Zara ends up going on a dinner date with Sebastian and didn’t return home that night. Miranda is not fazed by her twin meeting someone new. In the past, Zara had many boyfriend/flings that were short-lived. Little did Miranda know, Sebastian was here to stay and their lives were about to be turned upside down.
Zara and Sebastian are now a couple and he has uninvitingly moved into Miranda’s flat. As Zara gets close to her new boyfriend, Sebastian works very hard to separate the twins. Sebastian has been hired at Harrison Goddard with Miranda, which makes Zara happy because they will be able to form a friendship. What's better than having your sibling approve of your boyfriend, right? Things start to take a turn for the worst when Sebastian tries to make moves on Miranda. As much as Miranda wants to tell her sister about Sebastian, she doesn't want her sister to start cutting again, so she tries to deal with the matters on her own. Sebastian gradually became more aggressive with harassing towards Miranda. Sebastian made multiple sexual attempts at work, home, and the Christmas party. Miranda pleads with Sebastian to leave her alone and telling him that she is not interested in him, but still Sebastian is determined to prove her wrong.
Before I get into the dirty details, I am going to talk about Sebastian's family. Zara has made numerous attempts to meet Sebastian's family. However, he always makes excuses as to why she can’t meet his family. Throughout the story, Sebastian is talking to a person name Jude. He tells Jude his innermost thoughts. However, Jude is just a part of his memories because Jude is his twin brother that was killed in a car accident caused by Sebastian. Sebastian plays off that his family is alive and well but never tells Zara that his family died in that same car accident as a result of his actions. Even after staying in his house a few times Zara never caught on to his secrets and lies about his family. I guess you can say "love is blind".
Okay back to the story now, Zara gets an opportunity to go out of town to do a video project. When she leaves for the weekend Sebastian takes this as an opportunity to get what he has always wanted. He takes Miranda to get a drink and drugs her, although you don't know she is drugged until the trial. Sebastian takes Miranda home and has sex with her. In the morning, Miranda wakes up in his arms and realized what she has done. After cleaning up, she goes to her room to get dressed and sees that Sebastian is awake. Miranda tells him that none of this was supposed to happen, but Sebastian forces himself upon her and rapes her. Miranda chose to leave her flat until her twin returned from the video project. Miranda deals with what happened by asking Sebastian to not say anything to Zara about their incident. Sebastian enjoys torturing Miranda about the occasion, but the guilt of it all and Zara not knowing is eating away at her physically and mentally.
Sebastian finally tells Zara about what happened between him and Miranda. Zara kicks him out and tells him she never wants to see him again. Zara's anger builds, but she plays nice with her sister until later that night. When Miranda arrives home from work Zara ambushes her. Zara attempts to make her twin feel her pain in regards to Sebastian. Zara threatens to kill Miranda and starts to cut at her neck when Miranda suddenly grabs a knife and stabs her sister (Now you know who is dead and who is on trial). Miranda never meant to kill her sister; it was an act of self-defense. Miranda is at a complete loss with losing her sister over this man and is now awaiting trial. Throughout her trial, Miranda meets Theo who is her brief. Miranda clings to him the most throughout the whole ordeal and Theo stays strong for her.
Its trial day and Theo is assuring Miranda that this case is going to be ruled in their favor. Miranda does exactly as she is told and discusses the horrible events that led up to the death of her sister. Sebastian is caught in several lies during his testimony and is proven to be discreditable. The jury found Miranda not guilty and she is released. Sebastian's blood is boiling, and he feels Miranda must die just as his love Zara has died. He shows up to her flat to talk to her and Miranda lets him in and after a heated discussion, he tries to attack her. However, the police show up just in time because Theo has caught on to Sebastian. Sebastian is arrested and taken to jail. Miranda is now safe and is with Theo in his house. Theo fills her in on all of Sebastian's lies and his past. Finally, you will read that Miranda has had a baby, moved on with life, and married Theo. Although Miranda misses her twin, she carries Zara on through her daughter Olivia’s smile. Miranda hopes that one day Sebastian will be well enough to meet Olivia and find joy in living again.
What a sinister read! I am giving this book 4 out of 5 stars. As much as I really enjoyed reading another book by Amanda Robson, this book had a lot of filler. There was also an unusual happy ending to such a sinister story. However, this book really kept me on the edge of my seat and once I got into the book, I was not able to put it down. I really wish Zara would have caught on to the lies but when someone claims to love you that is all you want to believe. I don't agree with Miranda wanting her daughter to meet the man who ruined and ended these twins' lives but hey, it's just a story, right? The book formatting was amazing I really like how the chapters are told through the perspectives of Zara, Miranda, and Sebastian, past and present leading up to the horrible day. It is a well written psychological thriller and was highly suspenseful with twists and turns to keep the reader riveted to every page.

review to come after holidays

Guilt is the story of 2 sisters, Zara and Miranda and the boyfriend, Sebastian that drives a wedge between them. This book is not for everybody with dark and disturbing storylines of rape, self harm and depression. That being said I really enjoyed it.

The book starts with a dead girl and another confessing to killing her sister. From there the story jumps between the past and the present as well as from each characters point of view.

The characters are well written, each having their own good and bad qualities. Sebastian is such a nasty man, twisted and possessive. The girls relationship suffers greatly when he comes along.

Thanks to AVON UK and Netgalley for an advanced copy of this book to read and enjoy in exchange for my honest opinions.
