Wow - I have a soft rule against buying collections of short stories. Just a personal preference thing, I can hardly ever get into them and end up skipping half of them. But wow - these stories were each so beautiful and compelling. They were heart-wrenching and heart-warming and while I would love to read full-length novels expanding on any of them, they each left me feeling satisfied with their conclusion.

This is a beautiful short story collection about life in Nigeria and life of Nigerian immigrants in America. I really liked all of the stories and I thought they all had something to them. Especially Cell One and Jumping Monkey hill left a big impression on me. I have – unfortunately- not read many works by African authors or stories set in Africa before, so I found reading this book a very eye-opening experience. I think I learned a lot while reading this. I also really loved Chimamanda’s writing and way of storytelling, therefore I’ll definitely check out some of her other works!
