I enjoyed this collection of short stories immensely. Adichie has a way of describing characters and explaining aspects of the plot that is not overwhelming. Also, most of these stories had little twists that kept me on my toes!

This is maybe the first Chimamanda Adichie collection I didn’t fully love. It was still striking and the descriptions of Nigeria and the US were stunning (as always), but I just didn’t feel as much connection to the stories as I usually night to her stories. I did like ‘The Arrangers of Marriage’, that was probably one of my favourites 🥲

I quite liked the style of writing and it’s an interesting read. The short stories are all enjoyable in their own way and I find it so fascinating to read stories of different countries and parts of the world. I’ll definitely be reading more of Adichie’s work, and more world literature as well.

I loved every story in this collection. They all have very heavy topics, but are written so well into a plot and handled so expertly that I never felt like I was trudging through it.

It's a book that will always be there when you want to read it and is a very good, emotional read, but does not always enthrall you so deeply in the story that you feel guilty for not reading for a long period of time.
