Book Club with Caelin #2!

Give me spooky atmosphere & the odd ghostly encounter & yeah, I'm a happy gal. It's incredibly written. One of those books that takes you a bit longer to read because you simply don't want to rush the words. I loved this for all the same reasons I love Shirley Jackson, which I know is not everyone's cup of horror tea, but damn is it ever mine.

Shoutout to Spider the dog; I too would like to sign up for a puppy at her nearest convenience.

"I did not believe in ghosts.

"I had never been quite so alone, nor felt quite so small and insignificant in a vast landscape before, and I fell into a not unpleasant brooding, philosophical frame of mind, struck by the absolute indifference of water and sky to my presence."

The writing made it hard to get into at first, but once I got past the first few chapters this book was quite enjoyable. It read how I imagine a book from the late 1800's would read, very formal. The story was quite good and spooky, I can definitely see why this is a classic
