Any comic by Grant Morrison I would already recommend.

JLA volume 1 is unapologetic comicbook. It is a super hero romp. All the characters save Aquaman have their moment in the sun. You have the white Martian storyline and Keymaster.

It's glorious and if you like the Justice League you should check it out.

I've been somewhat curious about this for a while as it's often bandied about as the best team-up book DC ever did. This is really good - the first story, with the League fighting an alien version of themselves that turns out to have ulterior motives, is a great showcase for the different members (Green Lantern and Flash are in their own little buddy-cop world, Superman and Wonder Woman are Mom and Dad, Batman is the cool dude who can do anything). The second one is a bit more out there, with old-time villain The Key coming back to try to access "negative space" and control the universe? It's still pretty good, though, and does a good job of setting up Green Arrow as the new guy on the block. The backup stories are mostly pretty charming (the glaring exception is the Starro story, which could probably do without the frame story that just seems to be cluttering things up). Howard Porter's art hasn't aged all that well (the 90s are on display here for better or worse), but overall this is probably the best take on the Justice League I've seen.
