What a fast, happy read. I can't believe I've never read this, as much as I love the movie. The book had several scenes in it that weren't in the movie, which is to be expected, but they were darker than I would think. Several situations where the Tin Man had to cut off beasts' heads. Regardless, the whole thing was extremely enjoyable. The writing style was almost sing-songy, but not to the point of being cloying, and a fun delight.

I watched the movie years ago and I like it. I also watched The Wiz Live last year and I think it was awesome. Finally read the book and I actually quite like it.

A beloved series. My daughter and I passed the Baum novels and are onto #22 of the series. The books are so fun to read.
