I bought the second book in this series immediately after I finished the first. This series is amazing!

Mare and crew are running from Maven and trying to find all the “new bloods” from the list to recruit for the cause.

This book felt like when Harry, Harmione, and Ron go searching for the horcuxes in Harry Potter, it furthers the story, but is kind of boring in the overall series. Hoping the next book picks back up.

The story really isn't bad...but I just couldn't make myself care. I had to stop reading halfway through.

I think the biggest issue is that I couldn't connect with the characters. It might have something to do with the, "anyone can betray anyone" theme. The author is trying to constantly shock you plot twists but it just makes it so hard to understand any of the motives of the characters. For me, that created a big disconnect (and lack of give-an-eff) about any of them.

This book in my opinion was a little slower than the first. I still enjoyed reading about all the characters and how they continued the story. The rebellion is growing stronger and so does Mare as they look for more newbloods. I feel like this book was more of a build-up to get us closer to the war and the actions that will proceed after. There was so much information and twists that really draw you in and make you wonder what you will get to see. This was my least favorite of the 4, however it definitely contributed a big part to the story.
