I couldn’t put this book down and had to finish it in one day. Yeah, Jo was kind of stupid and annoying sometimes, but looking past that I just wanted to know what happened and how it happened!
Also, new fear ✨unlocked✨ : ante-retrograde amnesia. Thank you Google for telling me that it is often temporary, which isn’t how they portray it in this book. I guess it’s like that guy Tom in 50 First Dates, but living the remainder of your life that way would be H.E.L.L. Absolute hell.

Despite poor reviews, I really enjoyed this book! Jo Beckett the main character is called in to help figure out what has happend to this man who has lost his ability to form new memories. Is it a terrorist attack? Is it an experiment gone bad?
Once again Jo fights to stay ahead of 'the bad guys' to figure out the case before lives are lost.
I wish Gabe was more involved in this story but other than that, I felt that the book had plenty of action and suspense. I had a hard time putting it down as I just had to know where the story was going.
Great book!

This book wound up being too much for me, a little too far into the absurd and outlandish. I have difficulty suspending my disbelief that much on a contemporary novel. I just didn't buy a lot of what the characters were doing and the situations they found themselves in- a lot of "too convenient" scenarios. It wasn't a terrible read, but I found it hard to relate to and thus hard to care about.

I've got a lot of deja vu's in here, which is (un)fortunately my euphemism for repetitive. A case of anterograde amnesia while on the move to save the kidnapped family sounds intriguing but I have seen a lot of the concepts that are similar with King's (even though I've only read one) and Gerritsen's. I'm near DNF-ing this but I'm glad it's done, I only liked it at its peak because the rising action is weak.

Imagine having no collection of your life 5 minutes prior to present, on a repeat cycle. Your brain wipe out every single new memory that you had. It spell hell for Jo Beckett who usually involve in crime solving that have dead body. This time she need to know what kind & how nuts her patient is.
If i have to compare this to the first book, this one fall slightly behind. It has a good premise; a man with an eraser in his head. However, crime involving a radioactive chemical is way too typical.
Everything else wins; the humor & the characters (Fred especially is funny).
Overall, it's not a disappointing book.

I love Meg Gardiner. I really enjoyed the way this plot played out and the twist of the man who couldn't remember anything made this such a thriller. I think the conclusion was a foregone conclusion, but not predictable. I don't love Jo as much as Evan, but I like her and Gabe a LOT!
