I read this for my book club and that's the ONLY reason I finished it. Vapid, irredeemable drivel about a shallow, pathetic person.
I made it to the end thinking that eventually SOMETHING interesting would happen.

Editing errors aside, this was a really fun book. A nice escape from reality and a breath of fresh air. Also there was some surprisingly good advise at times.

This book was chick lit at it's best! Full of cliches and fluff and everything I was looking for summer laugh out read :) It was a book about a 30 something, single girl who works as an assistant to a movie star. Plot? Not so much.. I didn't really care. It was just fun to read.
The book is full of funny cliches that are written to her great grandniece - things she wishes she would have known when she was 16 and wants to pass along. Niece.. because she has no current prospects.
Some of the things I have found funny - but are much better in context -
"Never ask a single person if they're "seeing anyone special," an unemployed person if they've found a job or a married couple when they're planning to have children. You're not making conversation. You're starting someone on the road to prozac."
"Emotionally, it' s better to be homicidal than suicidal. When you're upset with a guy, at least you know which way to point the gun."
"Don't go out with a man just because he looks good on paper. You're not kissing paper."
Looking forward to the next book :)

The book was good and kept me somewhat interested, however, I felt it could have been a lot better. The story line was very linear and just seemed very straight forward. It didn't get too deep and was just to me, seeing the characters from the outside. It was good for a quick read but not so good if you really want a book to suck you in and keep you begging for more.

I enjoyed this book, but it wasn't one of my favorites. Although, it did interest me enough that I've requested the sequel [b:Misery Loves Cabernet|6266785|Misery Loves Cabernet|Kim Gruenenfelder|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1235956655s/6266785.jpg|6450049].
One of the things that bothered me were the constant references to smoking. I thought it was gross that the main character was always smoking.
The other thing that bugged me was the fact that the main character had dial-up internet. When I read that, I checked the published date and the book was only written four years ago. She wasn't living out in the country either, she was in downtown Los Angeles. I found that to be ridiculous and completely unbelievable. I'm hoping that in the sequel she has joined us in the 21st century and now has DSL, maybe even wi-fi.

I read this book when I was 15 and it was the best rom com I could have possibly read. I passed this along with all of my friends and they all loved it. It has the same vibes as 90s romcom movies but all wrapped in a cute book. If you want a light read that feels super funny and lovable, this is it 10/10.

Had a lot of potential and I feel it just didn't live up to it. Also it's currently 13 years old and several items in here reallyyyy didn't hold up well to time (love of Bill Cosby I'm talking to you).
