I liked it but the pace was too slow. I could picture it being a cute movie and it reminded me of Bridget Jones in some ways.

I thought this was a cute, funny read.
Evie is the typical quirky heroine you find in most rom-coms which works well with the whole plot of the story but at times felt a little too repetitive and cliche. Still, I was invested in the characters and the story to see how things would turn out for everyone involved.
I feel like it’s important to note that this story reads more like chick-lit than full blown romance for those of you who don’t really enjoy a story that’s centered more on the notion of romance than an actual romance.

It was cute but also so much second hand embarrassment. The little twist was nice, but it also felt kind of drawn out. All in all not bad

3.5 stars.
i'm so torn over this? like i loved the story itself (i'm such a sucker for romcoms and even though i could tell where the plot was going from a mile away i still was here for it), but the characters were all kind of unlikeable? ben and anette are the only ones who deserve rights tbh (not counting evie's friend group because they're saints for putting up with her bullshit)

The most fun I've had reading a book in a long, long time.

This was a great take on a rom-com - with tons of meet cute fails that made it an absolute delight. Loved Ben and his daughter, Annette. Loved Evie's friend group too. Thoroughly enjoyed the audiobook narrator!

if you love romcoms then OH BOY will you love this book!!!! i had the best time reading this! prose is clean and does a good job of pulling you in. evie is a star protagonist you root for, and even if you suspect who she ends up with, the journey there is wonderfully fresh and fun. i'd love to see this adapted irl. the story of a romcom about a girl trying to create working meet cutes is so refreshing! i hope Ms. Winters writes more someday, because i rather enjoyed her work. what fun!

It's been a long time since I started a book before bed only to find that I had to stay up half the night to finish it. The best parts of romcoms (how fitting!) with well-rounded characters, great writing, and a happy ending - love love love this book!

If anyone wants to a silly British romantic comedy in book form then this is the one for you! It’s pretty cheesy but very cute! Also you can read it around Christmas time since the holiday is featured.
