Wow. This was such a beautiful book; in writing style, in characters, and in overarching themes and lessons. If this hadn’t been my book clubs pick I don’t think I would’ve ever picked this book up but I am so glad I did. I definitely want to explore more from this author. Just breathtaking.

Such a gorgeously intelligent, creative and original book. As well as teaching me so much about the history of conflict in Cyprus and a million facts about trees and insects and nature, it also completely captured my heart with its themes of division and love, trauma and forgiveness. I loved it!

A heartbreaking and heart-healing story about intergenerational trauma. Some of the narration is from the pov of a fig tree, which speaks to my biologist heart. I also learned a lot about cyprus. However, some elements seemed very cliché and lacked depth.

Sometimes, what you call the perpetrator was just another name for an unacknowledged victim.

The audio is so good!
