I am extremely happy that I was not disappointed by this book. I have been looking forward to read it since it came out. I did not read ahead other people’s reviews on it because I wanted to go in without any knowledge about what I was going to find in this new adventure. Boy I am glad I did that. Wendy Walker… can you please write more book like this??? Pretty please with cherry on top. I absolutely love this thriller that had me in suspense and at the edge of my seat the whole time. I freaking love when I am lost in a book and cannot figure out who the culprit is. When I cannot predict anything, is when I am enjoying a thriller even more. That feeling of not knowing what’s going to happen it’s amazing. Only in books, of course. I was even bitting my nails while reading it and I haven’t done that since I was in elementary school. This family has gone through terrible terrible things. Things that would destroy any human being. I was amazed by how strong Nicole was the whole book, how she didn’t gave up looking for her mom, even when the whole town seemed to be lying to her face and there was no one to trust. She was terribly sorry for all the bad things she said to her mom, she loved her and wanted her back. Her resilience is admirable. I recommend this book to my thriller-loving-followers 10/10.

I enjoyed the back and forth perspectives between mother and daughter. They were so close to each other yet so far away and I thought that was powerful. It was eerie to learn about Alice and how you can see Molly’s character develop in trying to survive but also wanting to take care of this sheltered child. Twists and turns throughout. Unreliable characters. I thought Daisy could have been a more active character throughout the book too but I understand her part in the story. Definitely recommend!

Molly Clarke, mother of angsty children and somewhat beloved wife, appeared to walk away from her life….0r did something more sinister occur? In true popcorn thriller fashion, things are not how they initially appear. Enter in ALL the literary tropes and cliché themes: big secrets in a small town, blood is thicker than water, you don’t know what you’ve got til' it's gone. The writing and storyline were fine, but forgettable.

I’ve been on a thriller binge lately, so perhaps it’s time for me to get off the ride; until (insert big name author here...) announces their latest release about a troubled wife/missing woman/mysterious Mrs. and I’ll inevitably come back for more of the same.

fast read, kept me intrigued
3 stars because it felt a little repetitive at times and the twist was weird

The book started off OK and I was mildly interested in the mystery, but I became increasingly irritated by the author's repetitive language. Over and over we are told the same thing and every possible thought of the protagonists are detailed out. I feel like the author did not trust the reader to understand anything going on, nor to make references unless it was explicitly spelled out. I also did not really care for anyone in the book.

This was my first Wendy Walker book, I enjoyed it! I don’t think it was a huge shocker but I didn’t completely guess the end! The narrator did a great job, I listened the the audiobook and recommend it!

I struggled to find it interesting and ended up skipping a lot. I stuck around for as long as I did because the reader was fantastic.
