Honestly this one and the “Wedding date” were my faves. The Monroe sisters do it for me. I specially enjoyed this book because it wasn’t your typical hate/love relationship. Like the ones were they like each other, everyone around them knows, but they won’t admit it to themselves. No, these two grown adults entered this relationship and had many ups and downs but worked through them. I got to read about how their romance developed from an encounter at a bar to a full blown relationship, and loved every minute of it. It was refreshing. Reading about the dynamic between Max Powell( a spur of the moment type of guy) and Olivia Monroe(a proud overthinker) was enlightening.I loved how Max was aware that his whiteness played a big part in everything that happened in his life/career but he used it to help others, loved that he wasn’t afraid to admit when he was in the wrong and gave credit were credit was due, and that he didn’t think twice about going all out when he really wanted something, even though that was his biggest fault it made him great. Now with Olivia I loved that she thought carefully about everything and that we got to see that taking time to examine thing does pay off. Loved how hard of a worker she was, even when she was really going through it and how her mistake as a teenager shaped her for the better. Lastly I loved how she took herself out of a toxic environment(her old job) and bossed up.

Not as good as the first three. But it was easier to get through than Royal Holiday. I think I might be done with this author for a while.

I’ve loved The Wedding Date series so far but I couldn’t get into this one. The chemistry/romance between Olivia and Max is lacking. I just can’t believe the “insta love” and I didn’t like Olivia as much as past FMCs of Guillory. She seemed like a flat, “I’m not like other women because I like food” stereotype. And based on reviews I’ve read, I’m going to get irritated with the miscommunication third act breakup so I’m DNFing now to save myself the frustration 😅

Best one yet! Two adults who fall in love and have flaws but actually communicate like adults?!? So refreshing! And JG still builds an excellent plot even without the dramatics. Loved it!
