i didn't think it could happen, but this book made me come around on comics. the drawings are simple, black and white, but it's amazing how much emotion is expressed in them. it's a first hand account of life in iran, and it's not heavy handed or overly analytical.
i also highly recommend embroideries, also by satrapi. AND persepolis the movie, which opens later this month. :)
