Phew. This took me a while to finish (at least it felt that way). I did enjoy following the side stories and getting more lore about the world. However, this book is just 2 side stories/slice of life style writing. It was interesting to learn more but it definitely dragged on more than other books in the series. I’m going to take a short break from the series and then head right into book 9. :)

Writing style: ★★★★☆ 4.5/5 stars
Overall plot: ★★★★★ 5/5 stars
Biggest con:
- The frequent reminders in the first half of the book how Ainz made X expression, but actually didn’t because he’s not human anymore. Felt like a bit too much imo
Biggest pro:
- several scenes in this book aren’t in the anime! It was exciting to come across these more obvious differences! :)
This book is a solid continuation of the series! I’ve been saying this to anyone who would listen, but the father along I get in this series the more it has a different vibe from the anime, despite being the same story at its core. It’s terribly exciting to see this vibe difference grow more with each book - there were even scenes I don’t remember seeing in the anime here! I’m far more invested in the light novel series then I ever was in the anime, and I consider the anime to be one of my top favorites.

This volume just added to the world building in Enri and Nfirea's village and showing us the tradition Japanese love for hot springs. Nothing much happens but nice to have a break in the overtaking the world trope
