Somewhere between three and four stars. Usual inventive stuff, but the story wasn't great.

A bit of a let down but still good. More Bigby please!

I want to like this, but I feel like the authors have at times really gone with tired and often racist handling of the Arabian fables. Maybe not super surprising, but disappointing nonetheless. Come on, comic-land, you can do better.

It's interesting to see the expansion of the fairytale universe. I'm also interested to see how things develop based on the events of the last story.

I was so excited for this one. I've been adding a lot of Arabian inspired things to my read and watch lists, so seeing that this was the title of the next Fables volume, I raised my expectations WAY up.

And... meh. It was quite boring.

I never watched Sinbad as a kid so I didn't really have much of a connection to that. I really thought they'd include Aladdin, but they just passingly mentioned his name once. Then there was a genie which I thought would be such a cool storyline for the volume, but that lasted for an issue.

The last two issues of this volume also followed two new characters in a sidestory that I didn't care about, and found painful to read due to the cursive font choice.

This one was definitely a miss for me.

This was a really good one!

Arabian fables are in town and King Cole surprisingly is of great help.
Frau Totenkinder makes an appearance and shows of how clever she is. That lady is a double player. The way she dealt with the Ginny is crazy!
Snow White Cubs grow older.
And there is a love story of wooden people at the end.

Quite good!

Not my favorite volume from this series. This is the first attempt to include something outside of the more Euro-centric fairy tales. I think that the writing is a bit clumsy around the representation of other cultures. Because of this, I think that I was a bit more critical and noticed how hetero-normative the series is as a whole. This is also the first time that current events make an appearance in the story line.

I'm curious to see how they treat other, non-European fairy tales as the series continues. Will still continue to read the series, but, again, this volume was not my favorite.

I remember typing the words a scant few days ago, "This series has had no lull and no filler," well that has changed for the worse sadly. This group of stories has turned out to be the worst of the set so far. Which is sad, because I thought it had great potential. In the end it just seemed mundane and boring, missing the magic of the previous stories. Maybe too it was that I didn't feel any of the introduced East Fables were very deep in character. Sinbad was boring and drab, his servants were nothing, the d'jinn ended up being easily thwarted and the man who let him from his lamp was cynical and brash. It led to nothing really at all. Even Frau Totenkinder's parts were a let down, her scheming with the North Wind seemed quick to the draw, and it didn't even bother to tell us how she managed to get to the farm so quickly. Then the North Wind is never seen from again during the rest of the tale. Instead we get a trickery of words, that supposedly happened, but how did they know when and where the words would be spoken? Or by whom?
Overall, I felt let down by this set of issues. Onward to the next, as I hear overall this series is great and not to be missed and one bad volume does not a bad story make.
