"Say it with me:
Yo soy Muslim.
our prayers were here
before any borders were"
This book is absolutely stunning. From the art to the message and everything in between. This book actually moved me to tears in a way a picture book hasn't in a LONG time.
"I speak Spanish, Arabic
and dreams"

In this letter to his daughter, a father tells his daughter to embrace her unique qualities and celebrate her identity. The story is short and inspires the reader to also embrace themselves. Could be a good conversations starter about how good differences can be. It would be interesting to read this with students and facilitate a discussion about the unique characteristics and cultures all students bring to the classroom.

Beautiful. Worth multiple reads as you think about the words and take time to pour over the illustrations - on the pages, cover and endpages!

Too god heavy for my personal taste but it’s a beautiful book. I really love the line, “Our prayers were here before any borders were.”

This is wonderfully beautiful! It's a proud, hopeful and honest letter from a Latino, Muslim father for his beautiful daughter. I can not recommend it enough!

This is an incredibly beautiful book for young Muslims. It displays being a Muslim as so freely, even though there will be people who will always oppose us.
