"Thanks for the Feedback" is an essential self-improvement book that answers the important question; how will I ever get better if I can't handle the criticism that should help me to improve? We all are resistant to any kind of conversation that is negative or critical. But unless we learn to accept this feedback, we will never get any better. We will always wallow in the same old rut.

The suggestions offered by this book are very valuable. The idea of a "growth" mentality rather than a "fixed" mentality is essential in identifying how to apply feedback toward self-improvement. Keeping the ego at bay is an important component. So is the art of identifying which feedback you should not accept.

Overall I would highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to continue to grow as a professional and as a human being.

I picked this book up with the lukewarm feeling that I may get something useful out of it for work, but was blown away from chapter one. The topics and techniques are applicable from work relationships and situations to more intimate ones. This is career coaching and couple's therapy combined into one book.

Highly recommend.

Amazing book, I'm reading this one again at least 2x to get it into my brain. Great for communication skills in general. <3

I'm 80% through this and going out to enjoy new year x
For someone who's bad at taking constructive criticism this is a really great read had about 100 fab insights into how to take it with grace and where lines need to be drawn and why feedback is so prickly for human minds

It took me 6 months to get through this one, not because it's at all bad but because I'm generally just sort of resistant to this sort of nonfiction. So much of it seems like common sense, so I feel like I'm wasting my time reading it, though it was neat to see some of my own evolution at receiving feedback recorded pretty faithfully in the book. In the end, there is a fair bit of pretty practical advice, and it's a useful book, though I think I would have preferred an abridged version. The many scenarios the authors share are useful for illustrating the points they illustrate, but if you already kind of get the point from the simple statement of it, the scenarios feel a little like fluff. Actually I think this sort of book is probably very well suited to hypertext, with a rough outline, more detail on each section, and links to scenarios for further reading. I dog-eared a fair bit of stuff at about the midpoint and then a bunch more in the last fifth or so of the book.
