While I knew this was the first of a trilogy, not enough was revealed for it to be a satisfying installment.

i love a good library of alexandria reference. this was a fun read but i will say the ending was confusing. a lot happened really quickly and the character development for atlas, dalton, ezra, and anyone outside of the six felt nonexistant

I should have DNF'd this book when I was already having major issues around pg 50.

The amount of redundancy and pointless rambling in this book is ridiculous. It should have been 150 pgs long, tops. The introductory section alone should have been reduced from all the characters getting a POV chap to only Parisa's because that one was entirely sufficient.

The main characters are supposedly from across the globe and yet none of them read that way, all sounding generically American. All fall flat, with little to no variability. So much of who they supposedly are is done in telling the audience instead of showing.

The magic system is lazy. Each medeian has a type they are classified as and yet they can perform all sorts of other magic whenever it is needed. It would have been more compelling to see them limited to their particular art and how they adapt to make that work.

Some dialogue formatting issues as well, though one of the reoccuring ones might just not be to my preference.

Overall I am very disappointed.
