Gracie and Sebastian.
Enemies to friends to lovers, secret penpals.
She owns a champagne and gift shop that’s passed down from her dad. He owns the company who leases the building. He tries to pay her off so she gives up her tenancy early.
This was super sweet and made me feel the feels. Lots of pining and miscommunication. Seb was broody and stern, but Gracie slowly chipped away to reveal a kinder and softer soul.
I loved their chemistry and banter. Lauren Layne’s writing flows so well and it’s laugh out loud funny. My only criticism is that the ending is quite abrupt and I would’ve liked to see more of their happily ever after.

Q:
By the time I get back to Midtown, I've pushed the man in the fancy suit with teal eyes to the back of my mind and heart, where he will sit on the shelf alongside my other perfect, unattainable men, like Prince Eric from The Little Mermaid, Mark Ruffalo's character from 13 Going on 30…

A charming re-telling of The Shop Around the Corner/You've Got Mail. The plot stays pretty close to the original(s) so there's no real surprises here. Light, fluffy entertainment.

A note about the male narrator: I didn't think the casting was right. His voice is too high and light. He sounded more like Sebastian's assistant Noel than he did like Sebastian.

This book was so cute and fun! It reminded me so much of 90s/2000s romcoms. I read it in 1 sitting and totally recommend <3

Gracie Cooper runs the family Champagne shop in Manhattan. She has always wanted to pursue art but set her dreams aside when her father died and someone had to take over the family business. She finds out that the store isn’t doing well and that a large corporation wants to buy them out of their lease. Of course the man in charge of making this deal is Sebastian Andrews who happens to be extremely handsome. While all this is happening she has been searching for her perfect match and thinks she may have found him on a blind dating app, but he is unavailable. Gracie starts to develop feelings for Mr. Andrews even though he is currently the enemy. While she is falling for both of these men and notices that they are similar she doesn’t realize that they could very possibly be the same person.

I loved this enemies to lovers story. t is a great summer read. The characters are well developed and I felt such a connection to Gracie and Sebastian. This is a quick read that is sure to put a smile on your face.

This book comes out on June 29th!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this Arc.

Fluffy and cute. Easy to read. The characters weren't really very complex or deep. Story was a bit silly too but meh.
