Another thing that was like ugggh we get it was the ‘Im so tiny and small and little’ and the ‘Im not like other girls’ it was so icky. She’s rude to Ellie because Ellie is just happy to be pregnant. Giving not a girls girl. He even comments on her eating in a weird way at a couple points. Not a fan. Screams internalised misogyny. She’s also just like a shallowly written female character. Her plan to solve her problems even though she has a business degree is to find a man. Bit sad. Another thing that was heavily in this book was mentions of god with a capital G and so many themes of this book got me questioning if Meghan Quinn is a Mormon writing a romance book because that’s what it felt like. THE DRY HUMPING?!?! I’m not even going to start don’t piss me off. When they FINALLY have p in v sex (which is only after they become committed to each other even tho it is more casually committed) no question about using a condom and no talk about birth control until after he cums INTO her also screams Mormon.
The second half of the book…. I felt like the banter takes a real dive and becomes really awkward and really pushes the ‘He’s so possessive over me but I love it’ trope which is good but when it’s done well.
The whole kissing thing at the end to really push the connection to pretty woman, even though they’ve kissed before - also so much more descriptive than the actual sex. Paragraphs and pages of kissing but they’re fuckin for 1 paragraph and they’re already cumming. Also 3 thrusts in missionary and they’re both done? Hahahah Megan doesn’t fuck. There was also like 3 pages long description of her sucking his dick and only 1 paragraph of her getting head. Meghan doesn’t FUCK.
Aside from that, the ending… look It’s just not believable that these older businessmen would be sitting around playing matchmaker and be teaching him a lesson about “true love”. Real words spoken from said businessman. It’s more believable that Angela the villain of the whole story would’ve had something to do with it. But I digress…
I really enjoyed the first part of the book and i think that’s why I’m so disappointed by the rest. I thought I’d finally be able to go to book club with a 5 star but it just wasn’t it.

Huxley has some serious problems if he doesn’t know how to be kind in such a basic way throughout the beginning of the book, and meeting a woman doesn’t make someone learn that stuff… I need to read a book about a cinnamon roll after this.
