Even though at first I was inclined to give this novel a three-star rating, I think it actually deserves four stars. Even though I didn't enjoy this work as much as I had enjoyed Pride and Prejudice (which I think will always be one of my favorites), the story is still pretty good.

By now I thought I was already accustomed enough to Jane Austen's style, which is precisely what this novel proved to be wrong. Even though it is largely a social novel and at times an authentic comedy of manners, the plot and the sudden twists still kept me on my toes for the most part of the work.

I think Jane Austen is truly a master of creating typologies, as I found myself hearing wedding bells from the first moment Edmund was mentioned in the book, whereas I hated Mr. Crawford and his sister with a burning passion all throughout the very end. Same goes for Mrs. Norris.

I think this novel is also an important piece of writing which highlights the power of unshaken and unshakeable devotion to the ones one loves, regardless of time, social class, education, social background, etc. I really found Fanny quite inspiring in her devotion to Edmund, although I will admit that at one point I was near losing all hope of a happy ending for her.

I do recommend this novel to everyone who wants to read a comforting story about love, devotion and kindness, but also about vice, folly and human flaws. I think it is quite an easy reading, with much to offer to its reader.

This book was absolutely amazing! It drew me in with incredible imagery and characters I could relate to. If you like any of Jane’s other books or if you like the Brontë’s writing then I highly suggest this book.

To me a bit to focus long enough to get into it, but once I did I couldn't put it down, though I still would lose focus and find myself repeating parts. Wow they really cared about what future husbands made back then. This is either my 3rd or 4th favorite Austen work, I'd have to give Emma a reread to ultimately decide.
