Honestly the only thing holding me back from a full 5 stars is that there were a lot of characters to keep track of sometimes and my brain isn’t always great at that.
When say there were lots of characters I mean like Game of Thrones vibes* and like also with the politics and the twists and high stakes of it all. I really really enjoyed the political plot which is not something I usually like. I was LIVINGGG for the romance between Kazi and Jase!
I think this one really outdid the first one and I’m very happy I read it. If you are gonna read this duology I’d definitely recommend reading them either back to back or close together just because I think that would’ve helped me with keeping track of the characters.
I want a full book of Greyson and Miandre post vault because I love reading their little quotes about the “before” and something else I love about these books is how it’s seems to be set in the future because the make references to “the before” that are things/constructs we have now
*im talking the show because I haven’t read the books so idk

Honestly, I found the whole “blackface” as a main plot point- to be both racially insensitive & completely unnecessary. It completely ruined the book for me, and made me resent reading this book.
Having finished this Duology I find I have more criticisms than compliments. For this particular genre & themes explored, it gets a solid C- at best. It’s not something I will be recommending.
