This set of books is one of my favorites and caused me to read more fantasy. There are multiple strong characters, including several strong women. Includes good world & character development. It was beautifully written particularly regarding love/the romantic relationship. Basically no spice.

An absolute worthy sequel.
I'm in love love love with Kazi and Jase's relationship. And the plot... I wish Mary E. Pearson would write more books of these two.

I LOVED THIS ONE!!!! Kazi and jase 🤭 they will do anything for eachother..... I genuinely am so jealous of them (what they have) 😭
and honestly who does montegue even think he is!!! he is delulu if he ever thought Kazi liked him and when she said "I've hated you every day since you killed my husband" aslo when Gunner said "and what are u gonna do?i am ur brother!!!" And jase replied "and Kazi is my wife!!!!" 🤭 ~ horrified looks from everyone in the room but I'm only looking at you ~ I LOVE THEM ok have I said it enooouuugggghhhh!!! Anyways I loved the family aspect of the series
this book is so grounded in being there for ur kin and those who you love even when they do you wrong and it's just so we'll written I can't sum it up in a small box sorry - also Mason and synové spin off when????

Honestly the only thing holding me back from a full 5 stars is that there were a lot of characters to keep track of sometimes and my brain isn’t always great at that.

When say there were lots of characters I mean like Game of Thrones vibes* and like also with the politics and the twists and high stakes of it all. I really really enjoyed the political plot which is not something I usually like. I was LIVINGGG for the romance between Kazi and Jase!

I think this one really outdid the first one and I’m very happy I read it. If you are gonna read this duology I’d definitely recommend reading them either back to back or close together just because I think that would’ve helped me with keeping track of the characters.

I want a full book of Greyson and Miandre post vault because I love reading their little quotes about the “before” and something else I love about these books is how it’s seems to be set in the future because the make references to “the before” that are things/constructs we have now

*im talking the show because I haven’t read the books so idk
